"Business improvement district" (BID) means inner city renewal in a different way. Private funds, bundled in a collective measure, financed the redesign, or here rather the reinvention, of a part of Hamburg's inner city that was previously just an unknown backside.
Tidy up, design, make it well-known! New and homogeneous surfaces, together with less stationary traffic make this place now attractive. In addition, 10m high trees and golden seat boxes give it a new identity - unusual elements in an urban context. And it is not only the public space that is now shining in new splendor. Its positive development is a catalyst for new investments in the surrounding area. In this way, the former backside in the heart of Hamburg has once again been brought into the center of perception, and demonstrates the effect of private commitment in public space can be for everyone.
